Sergey Kats, Owner and Principal of Kats Law, grew up in Soviet Russia. His family came to America in 1991 when he was 7 years old with only $400 to their name. From a young age, Sergey has been determined to work hard, make a name for himself, and help those around him.

Sergey attended Brush High School and graduated in 2003. In 2007 he received a Bachelor’s degree in Finance with a minor in Economics at John Carroll University. After graduation, Sergey attended Cleveland Marshall College of Law, graduated in 2010 and was admitted to the Bar in 2011.

While attending Law School, Sergey was an active intern at BakerHostetler, a nationally recognized law firm. Post-graduation he knew he wanted to be more hands-on and embrace the entrepreneurial spirit that was instilled in him as a child, and thus began Kats Law.

Sergey’s business, Kats Law, prides itself on giving a personal touch to it’s clients and providing them with hands-on attention. Kats Law has evolved immensely over the years. Our personal injury practices have become more sophisticated and services began expanding along with client’s needs. Some pivotal moments for Sergey over the years include watching his staff grow, moving into a bigger office, personal growth of clients, and watching those clients succeed during tough times. He prides the growth of Kats Law on word-of-mouth and referrals from past clients, those who walk through the door are sure to leave with a smile on their face.

Sergey feels grateful to own a company where he can prioritize the client experience and ensure their satisfaction. Kats Law has a relaxed but accountable culture – it is important to him that clients are treated like real people and feel touched on a personal level. There is nothing more satisfying to him than helping a client in need and seeing how appreciative they are. The values that drive Sergey most are family, honesty, and dedication.

Out of the office you can find him spending time with his family, practicing his faith, getting involved with the community, and playing golf.
